But I never brought myself to read the Gita. And the few occasions when I took the thick volumes to try and keep up with my wish to read the Gita, I just couldn't bring myself to reading or re reading a few verses that were familiar. I picked up The Gita for Children thinking it would be one of those easy How many times has one heard that The Bhagavad Gita is the solution to the problems in life. I picked up The Gita for Children thinking it would be one of those easy reads to while the time away. Children's book, you see. Well, I was mistaken.
I think this would more qualify as a primer for adults looking to begin reading The Gita seriously. It could appeal to motivated older children - teenagers. The language is simple, but certain concepts aren't. I should have read this a few years ago. This book has motivated me to read and understand more of the Gita. And even start trying to apply the actionable points one could draw out of it.

The Bhagavad Gita was one book or rather vortex I had never entered fearing a chakravyuha of complex philosophies and confusing interpretations.
This book has for the kids simplified the lessons using examples of daily young adult life and tried to keep the religious concepts as simple as possible. True, we need to unlearn to learn and this book helped me do it. I do not want to give any extracts here, lest the potential reader would lose interest. It is very enlighting and you learn about hindu myths through a simple medium. A brilliant first introduction to The Gita, it's really needs to re-title itself to "Your first Gita"! A well written , beautifully detailed and amazingly simplified. Though the book is meant for children as mentioned in the title , this book talks about Gita in terms of knowing about oneself. Reviewing books is not my cup of tea. Put together, I learned a LOT from these books. After having read only a few pages of "The Gita for Children" it seemed to me that The Gita is more about the way of life than religion.

Putting into practice everything that Krishna says to Arjuna is nearly impossible in a lifetime but striving to do that could definitely help make personal, family and work aspects of the life better.
There are a lot of takeaways from the book. In my view, it's not a book meant only for the children. I've not read any other book about The Gita but, this seems to be a great starting point for anyone interested in it irrespective of their age. To me, it presented an easy explanation for the larger text written in Sanskrit and left me thinking and wanting more of The Gita. Thank you, Roopa Pai, for making a seemingly daunting book feel so simple, interesting and awesome!

I am a grownup, but as someone with limited background knowledge in Hindu culture and mythology, this was an excellent, easy to absorb first read of the sacred text and helped me to understand and contextualize the message of the Gita in a modern world. But for those of us who ARE sitting in that comfortable room with no interest or experience in warfare , this text turns that on its head and shows us how this epic battle and conversation with God incarnate is applicable to our own comparatively ordinary and mundane lives.

Though it is meant for tweens and teens, it is an excellent read for anyone who is interested in being introduced to the Gita. More philosophical than religious, the Bhagavad Gita poses and answers many existential questions.
And for the first time, I feel like I understand it! I like how every argument or counter-question I had was also asked by Arjuna. The author Ro I've been trying to read various versions of the Gita without much success—until I found an Instagram post recommending this book. The author Roopa Pai has certainly tried to use a hep, young voice to address her audience; but that is not very annoying.

If you want to introduce your to the Management book spoken by the ultimate coach Krishna , there is no better way that Roopa's " The Gita For Children". She deliberately avoids the Vedanta and the Philosophy part of Gita and puts across the message in simple Values which will ring a bell with children especially preteens..
In fact this would be an ideal book for even elders who want a quick primer on Gita.
