Check Out. You gotta check out. In some ways it was good, in others it was extremely frustrating, and I think ultimately that frustration won out. The first thing that I really need to get out of the way before I go on is that this book needs a lot of polishing. Exactly the same mistakes were made the entire way through, and I honestly expect more of a book whether published through a known company or through the author themself. I was kind of able to look over it, but at the same time because those errors spanned the entirety of the book it was hard to just keep on ignoring it, especially as these were the very basics of writing properly.
She is a strong character. She deals with a mental asylum, she fights for Casey, she shows herself to be unselfish and determined. At all. But at the same time, she was not acting in a way that was helping her case. No sensible person would do what she did. It seemed she never really learned from her mistakes. The writing, too, was a mixed bag.
There were some parts that were written quite well and that had me drawn in and muttering resentfully when I had to stop reading for one reason or another. But it was quite jumpy and there was one part that just left me wondering where on earth it had come from because it was totally out of the blue and just seemed a bit far-fetched. The story also seemed to drag on quite a bit and I think there were definitely areas that could have been cut to save repetition. And that ending. I was literally just left sitting there, Kindle in hand, wondering what had just happened. How could the entire book have led up to that?
Overall, this was a very frustrating read for me. Just be prepared for some seemingly pointless comments from Abby. This book is amazing! It is so powerful and emotional on so many different levels. The action and intrigue started from the very first paragraph.
This is a very different storyline compared to most of the paranormal books that I usually read, but it pulled me in until I couldn't put it down! The story shows many different aspects of grief, anger, mental illness, loss, fear, and so much more. It definitely shows the consequences to choices that are made out of anger, fear, grief, etc.

For me it brings This book is amazing! For me it brings up the question: If someone sees demons or angels, does that mean they have a mental illness, or are they really seeing phenomena from another plane of existince? It is a question I still can't answer, but it is definitely a big part of the storyline of the book. I really enjoyed reading this book since it evoked so many thoughts and emotions related to the subject matter.
I was disappointed with the ending of the book, it just didn't seem to me, at least to be an option I would have considered. I would also point out that there are a few words that are misspelled or left out. There are also a handful of words that are spelled in such a way that they give a different meaning than what is being conveyed in the sentence.
Devil or Angel
However, the spelling is not such a problem that it detracts from the book. I would definitely recommend reading this book! I'm feeling very mixed about this story. It's really long and kind of flops back and forth quite a bit. Just when you think it's going to wrap up, some other epic thing happens and it keeps going. Now, this is not really a bad thing, it's just that there were a few places where I questioned what was happening and was almost getting mad at the characters and thinking, 'Enough already! I discovered the reason that the plot seemed to go back and forth so much.
I also was right to question what was going on. I just didn't know it at the time. That being said, I seriously could not put this book down. It kept me intrigued and involved throughout. The main heroine, Abby, brings the reader over to her side pretty quickly. After a terrible tragedy that crushes her spirit, her family is convinced that she's cracked mentally.
She labors to convince them that she's not crazy through the entire story and, when she finally has evidence that she's telling the truth, the entire thing blows up in her, and our, face. I'm not going to give the ending away but, let me just say that, if you see it coming, you're a lot smarter than I am, because it caught me entirely unaware! I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what's going to happen in movies and books, too, but not this time.
As I read the last word, I just kind of sat there for a minute to let it digest before turning my Kindle off. It was like the sun coming out from behind the clouds. Everything was suddenly clear! I think I actually said, "Wow" out loud. This is where my feelings are mixed. Though I obviously enjoyed the story, a part of me was a little disappointed at the ending but, another part of me was awed that the author had the guts to end it the way that she did. If you like paranormal stories that include angels and demons, you'll love this story.
If you like dramatic stories that involve heroines with personal dilemmas to solve, you'll love this story. If you like stories with a 'I totally did not see that coming' ending, you'll definitely love this story. I received this story in exchange for an honest review, and I honestly can say that I would spend the money on it, to read it again.

And you cannot predict where this author will take you next. I do believe that this is an incredible book and a very intense read. It has some very serious issues it deals with in a manner that is both entertaining and intensely emotional. It was a difficult book to read but also a difficult book to not read. Eventually Abby's parents have no other choice but to have Abby admitted to an insane asylum, because she is increasingly violent and erratic towards herself and others. Who can save Abby?
Actually, the ending was my favorite part of the book! I was not able to connect with the character of Abby because she was just soooooo angst-ridden and determined to do the very thing that no sane person would do. She was very angry throughout the narrative I get it, she has demons following her around ; but even to the people who have her best interest at heart, she STILL went out of her way to make senseless, bone-headed decisions. At parts, it was almost too much! I felt that the story was way too long and dragged over the same scenarios over and over.
It was very 'Groundhog Day'-esque. Overall, not a bad effort from author Nicole France -- this book had originality and an ending that knocks you on your ass.
