Lady Caroline's expertise in etiquette proves invaluable, and spending time together is a delight. But as the children's origins are finally uncovered, can he keep her newfound family intact—and unite her dreams with his own? Sanctuary Bay , a narrow bay between steep cliffs on the northeastern English shore, has provided a haven for centuries. A grand manor house, Meriweather Hall, is set atop one cliff, and those who live in the village and the manor have always had their lives intertwined.
In the days after peace has come to Europe with Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, hearts and faith will be challenged. In Sanctuary Bay, both will find a home. Sophia Meriweather will—if all goes as it should—marry the heir to her father's estate. If she's to secure her family's future, Sophia must put her would-be groom's best friend from her mind.

But keeping the darkly handsome widower and his two young children out of her heart is proving nearly impossible. Charles Winthrop, Lord Northbridge, doesn't believe in love. Lovely Sophia may have charmed his normally silent children, but, for a man of honor and duty, she was a wife he dared not wish for. Yet nothing is as simple as it seems—especially when it comes to matters of the heart….
Jonathan Bradby would gladly return to fighting the French if it meant avoiding his new title: war hero.
Summer Promise (Amish Seasons, book 1) by Marianne Ellis
Only he knows the reputation isn't deserved. Then a visit to Sanctuary Bay brings renewed acquaintance with the lovely Lady Catherine Meriweather. He's drawn to her, yet Cat surely deserves a real hero. Overwhelmed with organizing a Yuletide celebration and her sister's wedding, Cat gladly accepts Jonathan's help. Soon she sees the gentle heart he conceals beneath his wit.

But Jonathan's need to prove himself could drive them apart—unless they're bold enough to seize the unexpected gift of love. Vera Fenwick is everything a vicar's sister should be—helpful, modest and sensible. She knows the perils of falling for a man above her station, but it does no harm to admire Edmund Herriott, Lord Meriweather—from afar. She's perfectly content to help him restore the local rectory…and she's much too reasonable to risk her heart.
Working alongside Vera to rebuild the church and foil a smuggling ring is restoring the confidence Edmund lost in battle. Vera may be sure she's not suited to be an aristocrat's wife, but Edmund is utterly confident of one thing—that this unexpected love was built to last.

From the ashes of her father's farm stand, Miriam is given the chance to renew her marriage, friendships, and the hope of becoming a mother…. The death of Jakob Lapp, a beloved member of the Amish community and the builder of the Stonyfield Farm Stand, is difficult for all.
On the day of Jakob's funeral, his beloved daughter Miriam must deal with her grief as well as mounting apprehension, knowing that she will soon see her sister Sarah who left the Amish community to live the Englisch life many years ago. Sarah's arrival also forces Miriam to face the problems in her marriage. She has been unable to give her husband Daniel a child and fears he is not happy. Miriam has always suspected that David's heart truly lies with her sister, and she worries about the effect her return will have on their already strained marriage. But when a fire destroys the Stonyfield Farm Stand, the entire community must come together to rebuild.
Suddenly, second chances abound, not only for the community, but for Miriam as well….
See a Problem?
Daniel, Miriam's husband, is the only man that she has ever loved, but she has always feared that he is in love with her sister, Sarah. Sarah left six years ago to live as an Englisher in San Francisco and has never returned to their Amish community. But when the sisters' father, Jakob, dies, Sarah sends news that she will be returning for the funeral. Miriam is filled with trepidation, concerned that her already tenuous marriage will suffer even further. I really enjoyed this first book in the Amish Seasons Series and I found myself immediately drawn into the storyline from the very first page.
I love Amish stories and Ms. I eagerly look forward to reading the rest of the books in this new series. Ruth Schrock has never been able to live up to the high standards set by her father, their district's deacon.
